Last week I did my usual runs - 30 / 30 / 40 minutes, 4.5 mph, 0.5% inclination, treadmill. On top of that I noticed a feeling of slight fatigue. It's interesting because at the same time it feels very subtle and very deep. My gut feeling is that I'm not eating enough - especially this week, when we account for the Ice Skating adventure last weekend. I've been using significantly more calories than normal these past few weeks and I didn't really adapt my diet. To be clear - my runs are still feeling great, I'm not out of breath or tired at the end of each one. Coach says it's important that each feels like I could keep going - and I'm living by that rule. It's just during the day I also noticed this feeling of "deep exhaustion". Coach says (after a short round of Q&As) that’s classic base-phase accumulation, not overtraining. [...] Your aerobic system is adapting well (HR stable), but your nervous system and connective tissues are still absorbing load. That “deeper body tired” feeling is often the first sign of adaptation. Plan for next week is to keep the same volume of runs as this week. Additionally I'm assigned to increase my carbs intake (more rice, pasta, potatoes during meals), and get more sleep. Let's go! 💪 |
