Week 8 - Spring is around the corner

First outdoor run this season πŸŽ‰

And a few immediate notes:

My outdoor pace felt a lot lighter than when running on the treadmill. Indoor, I usually kept to 4.5 mph (8:17 /km), while outdoor, my natural running pace was 5.4 mph (6:54 /km)

Coach says that the important part of the training is duration, not distance; and that I should run at a comfortable pace.

For easy runs, the correct rule is: Run at a pace where breathing stays relaxed and you could speak in full sentences. Not β€œrun at the treadmill pace.”

Let pace float naturally, but apply two limits:

  1. Breathing test: If you can talk in full sentences β†’ pace is fine.
  2. HR guardrail: Try to keep most of the run roughly ≀150 bpm.

I'll keep that in mind.

Beside that, this week was normal - 2x 30 min. at 4.5 mph, 0.5% inclination on the treadmill. + the 45 min. outdoor run.

Plan for next week is to push things up a bit: 2x 30 min. + 1x 50 min. As we are slowly entering springtime (and yes, I'm writing this while there is snow lying by the side of the road), I'll probably do more outdoor runs.
